MAKURU

CREATED BY THE CHILDREN OF KOORDAK.

Celebration of Art and Community

We are delighted to unveil a special collaboration between Refresh Juice Perth and Koordak, where art, flavour and community intertwine. This partnership proudly showcases the remarkable artwork crafted by Crystal and the talented children at Koordak, where their fingerprints gracefully merge with vibrant floral designs.

In this collaborative journey, we invited the children to actively participate in selecting the flavours for our ‘Makuru’ collection. Through engaging workshops and tastings, their invaluable input has shaped the refreshing and captivating taste experience of these limited-edition juices.

To extend our support and Koordak and their inspiring initiatives, a portion of the profits from the ‘Makuru’  collection will be donated back to the community. By enjoying these flavourful juices, you not only indulge in a delightful experience but also contribute to the greater good.

Additionally, we are thrilled to announce that the mesmerising artwork will be showcased at The Como Hotel. We invite you to visit and immerse yourself in the fusion of art and nature, marvelling at the intricate details created by the Koordak children.

As part of our commitment to giving back, we will be auctioning off the artwork, with all proceeds dedicated to supporting Koordak’s impactful projects. by participating in the auction, you can make a meaningful contribution and help empower the local community even further.

Join us in celebrating the power of collaboration, appreciating the beauty of art, savouring the flavours of ‘Makuru’ and making a positive impact in support of Koordak’s mission.

the STORY...

A community nestled amidst the breathtaking beauty of Makuru, the season of fertility and coolness. This season brought a sense of togetherness and harmony.

This painting serves as a testament to unity, love for the land, and our loved ones. It represents shared values, traditions, and the essence of Makuru.

At the centrepiece stands the Lemon Myrtle, symbolising strength, resilience, and healing. The Lemon Myrtle is known for its vibrant green leaves, it’s fragrance that fills the air, and its ability to bring people together in a spirit of harmony.

As the lemon Myrtle stands tall and proud at the centre, it leaves a sense of unity and strength, just as we do it together as a family.

The intricate living beings, patterns, and symbols added to the painting represent ancestral ties, spiritually and the interconnectedness of all.

Symbolising hope, it serves as a reminder to everyone of the power of our dearest loved ones, of coming together, of embracing diversity, and of cherishing the land and our loved ones who sustain us. It acts as a beacon, inspiring the celebration of our unique heritage and elders.
